Divided into five chapters, “Arabs in Rio de Janeiro – a plural identity”, also traces a panorama of the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century, points out the main factors of immigration, the situation of Syria, Lebanon and Palestine in the first half of the 20th century, talks about the construction of Ottoman and Arab identities in Brazil, devotes a chapter to the Arab press and institutions in Rio de Janeiro and portrays the cultural life of the Arab community in the city.
