_Al-Alam Kendari Mosque

Information

The Al-Alam Mosque was built during the leadership of the Governor of Southeast Sulawesi Nur Alam. Its construction was carried out in 2010 and was inaugurated in 2018. This mosque was designed by an architect from South Sulawesi, Mursyid Mustafa. The site consists of three main buildings, namely the main mosque building, a closed plaza, and an open plaza. The foundation of the Al-Alam Mosque is embedded in the bottom of Kendari Bay, giving the impression that the mosque is floating on the surface of the sea.

The mosque has four towers, two towers on the east side towering like the Burj Al Arab tower in Dubai, UAE, reaches a height of 321 meters. The construction of the tower is also unique, wide at the bottom and tapering upwards, while the other 2 towers are lower with a bulging design in the middle then tapering upwards. The overall design of the tower is dominated by blue colour that is interspersed with white paint. The dome is predominantly gold and the tip of the dome has a crescent star symbol which is a symbol of mosques in general. The main dome, in the form of a semi-circular base with an open-close system resembling flower petals. The outer walls of the mosque are decorated with flower petal ornaments. The four corners of the mosque are surrounded by GRC decorations that give a very elegant impression. This mosque is divided by 9 pillars on each side of the mosque so that its construction is very sturdy. On the top of the right and left walls, the name of the Al-Alam Mosque is displayed in white.

The interior of the Al-Alam Mosque is no less elegant, because it is dominated by the colour white. The dome is decorated with turquoise green paint with golden flower accents. The ceiling of the roof is made of a square with partitions. Each square shape is decorated with a turquoise eight-pointed star. The pulpit is not free from golden ornaments that curve up to the ceiling. The mosque has two floors.
